Bonjourno! Its beginning of the new year, lots of things to accomplish. Some of which will be revealed soon. Now its time to summaries the trials and tribulations of 2007; most of it was really an eye-opener especially when I spent my summer at a regional bank. Made friends and enemies haha..
My studies were alright and about the sports bit; I hadn’t improved much tactically in the past year. Had fun training sessions with the Czech and Israel coaches but still i really hope to improve within the next few years to compete in the Laos game. Wish me luck!
Other than that, I was kinda pissed with whats happening in the world; besides political elections, frequent college shootings, terrorists threats and even the GST hike, has anyone noticed that the weather in Singapore has been haphazard? I sometimes wonder what the guys at the meteorological station is doing! Im just pissed with the fact that the government is not doing anything concrete to tackle or address the issue of global warming! Of late what we know of is the recent debate and common consensus of the US and China to the Climate Change summit in Bali few months ago, I still find it hard and even agree with the General secretary of the United Nations that more needs to be done after the agreements on cutting down on emissions. But are we listening? Maybe Obama is ;)
Towards the end of the year, I ushered the new year with a good friend and a new friend from Italy. Caught the ever awesome fireworks at the Marina Bay area (together with the other 150,000) and scrumptious dim-sum at Lau Pa Sat. Thereafter we headed to Club Street later to hang out.
For 2008, im looking forward to more commitments to studying and that elusive 3.2 mark ;) Aside from that key competitions for the year include the nationals, Japan c’ships and ASEAN university games (AUG) at the end of the year. I haven’t put this in writing but I have been thinking of putting aside my community commitments with Peoples Association and my community centre this year. Time management aside I guess some people I know of do not really appreciate the time I put into the past events or initiatives. But really I couldn’t give a shit, im just glad that I made a difference and showed enthusiasm wasn’t. I remained optimistic throughout 2007 eventhough I wasn’t selected for SEA games (Korat), my coaches never gave up on me and encouraged me to pursue my dreams of becoming the best that I can be.
New year goals ahead of 2008, well I can say I gota get back to my skating. The last time i hit the ice rink was ages ago with my Indonesian pal, Robby (whose residing in New Zealand ever since O’ levels)..Waddup Rob! I just gota sharpen my blades and hit the newly completed rink at Kallang Leisure Park. Yes guys..its finally ready. See you there soon!
Sports to take up in 2008;
-Wake boarding
-Absailing certification
-Capoiera
So you see why im anticipating this year ahead, these are the main 3 sports that I was considering since 2006. Its non-time consuming and achievable, since I’m so busy. But ultimately do expect me to be glued to my tv set and laptop when the Olympics hits us all. Im supporting both team USA and Singapore. Somewhere deep down I really think we might get a medal in table tennis and sailing. Pride for the nation man!
Dreaded Monday is tomorrow, what will I be expecting? Well im starting school and looking forward to who are my classmates. From what I’ve heard the Prof. is an acclaimed individual and well liked by students. Lets hope so.
Lets end of with a quote by me..
..life is like a tabla, no matter how hard you hit it, it will make sounds that will soothe the beast in you.
Saturday filled with kids, close friends and unplugged music!
One of the best saturdays i've had since the year started..
