type='text'>Eventful Saturday with kids & new friends with good unplugged music!

Today was spent at the gym and invigilating at a mensa testing event@smu. For your info im in the ex-co of mensa@smu. Besides doing the routine gym set (school), I had to rush back by 3 pm and get myself organized for the Kids reading class at 4 pm (Tanjong Pagar CC). Everytime when the class commences, the kids put a smile on my face. Eventhough theyre sometimes annoying. Only a few ;)

Tonight is my first time at Dempsey road, as my goodie pal, Jillo is playing with the resident band at Oosh (Kc and Noor). It was a thrill to catch up with my old gal pal and her pals. I even asked my other close gal pal down with her friends. It was a nice evening with good friends. I really like it if the night puts a smile on the audience face. It makes me happy.

I was actually having good conversations with my gal pals friends, but the weird thing was when we parted our ways; they were heading to mohd.sultan and both us, guys, were heading for supper at Henderson road, when their car pulled up besides us and my gal pal asked us how old were both of us..

I calmly replied our respective ages, and apparently they wagered on the fact that we were as young as my gal pal (presumably 23)..so I hope to get to know both of my pals friends, cos they seem really nice and open ;) Cheers to them!

In case you are wondering, I celebrated my birthday a week ago, with a family and friends gathering over at my place. It was indeed memorable as my new and old poly mates were down to make merry over the scrumptious food spread (prepared by dearest mummy and aunties), the night came to highlight when it was the singing of the bdae song, led by Joshua (cousin) on the guitar ;) whom by the way is teaching me some basic chords ;)

Though the night ended young, I will always cherish the memories and many wishes from my close pals and those far away in the states and Europe. I love you guys a lot!

Lessons from the past year and awakening in 2008

Bonjourno! Its beginning of the new year, lots of things to accomplish. Some of which will be revealed soon. Now its time to summaries the trials and tribulations of 2007; most of it was really an eye-opener especially when I spent my summer at a regional bank. Made friends and enemies haha..
My studies were alright and about the sports bit; I hadn’t improved much tactically in the past year. Had fun training sessions with the Czech and Israel coaches but still i really hope to improve within the next few years to compete in the Laos game. Wish me luck!

Other than that, I was kinda pissed with whats happening in the world; besides political elections, frequent college shootings, terrorists threats and even the GST hike, has anyone noticed that the weather in Singapore has been haphazard? I sometimes wonder what the guys at the meteorological station is doing! Im just pissed with the fact that the government is not doing anything concrete to tackle or address the issue of global warming! Of late what we know of is the recent debate and common consensus of the US and China to the Climate Change summit in Bali few months ago, I still find it hard and even agree with the General secretary of the United Nations that more needs to be done after the agreements on cutting down on emissions. But are we listening? Maybe Obama is ;)

Towards the end of the year, I ushered the new year with a good friend and a new friend from Italy. Caught the ever awesome fireworks at the Marina Bay area (together with the other 150,000) and scrumptious dim-sum at Lau Pa Sat. Thereafter we headed to Club Street later to hang out.

For 2008, im looking forward to more commitments to studying and that elusive 3.2 mark ;) Aside from that key competitions for the year include the nationals, Japan c’ships and ASEAN university games (AUG) at the end of the year. I haven’t put this in writing but I have been thinking of putting aside my community commitments with Peoples Association and my community centre this year. Time management aside I guess some people I know of do not really appreciate the time I put into the past events or initiatives. But really I couldn’t give a shit, im just glad that I made a difference and showed enthusiasm wasn’t. I remained optimistic throughout 2007 eventhough I wasn’t selected for SEA games (Korat), my coaches never gave up on me and encouraged me to pursue my dreams of becoming the best that I can be.

New year goals ahead of 2008, well I can say I gota get back to my skating. The last time i hit the ice rink was ages ago with my Indonesian pal, Robby (whose residing in New Zealand ever since O’ levels)..Waddup Rob! I just gota sharpen my blades and hit the newly completed rink at Kallang Leisure Park. Yes guys..its finally ready. See you there soon!
Sports to take up in 2008;

-Wake boarding
-Absailing certification
-Capoiera

So you see why im anticipating this year ahead, these are the main 3 sports that I was considering since 2006. Its non-time consuming and achievable, since I’m so busy. But ultimately do expect me to be glued to my tv set and laptop when the Olympics hits us all. Im supporting both team USA and Singapore. Somewhere deep down I really think we might get a medal in table tennis and sailing. Pride for the nation man!

Dreaded Monday is tomorrow, what will I be expecting? Well im starting school and looking forward to who are my classmates. From what I’ve heard the Prof. is an acclaimed individual and well liked by students. Lets hope so.

Lets end of with a quote by me..
..life is like a tabla, no matter how hard you hit it, it will make sounds that will soothe the beast in you.

Le weekend and really it matters at the end...

Today was jam pack with the usual morning gym session, not the usual coach but she made up for having a good abs session at the end. Shortly after was supposing to head to the meeting at NUSS guild house @suntec city with my new ex-co of SMU Mensa but unfortunately I couldn’t due to other obligations with an interview at my community centre.

Well I’ve been involve in the newly set up 1st kids reading class at my neighborhood cc and I must say its working out well. Today I had a video session of “night at the museum” and I must say not only did the kids enjoy it but so did I and their parents! It ended well and I do hope to plan excursions to the library or have external sit- in sessions with teachers or even clowns hahaa..

I then had to rush off to a Futsol clinic session for kids that me and my pals began. The turn out could be better ;) but the kids were fun. Eager to kick the ball always and its just amazing to see them dribble and perfecting the passes and kick-in’s..thank god the weather was cloudy and not blistering hot.

Having rest awhile and chilled “abit” I had to attend a Indian wedding and it’s at Yishun! So far but it’s a close family friend. Upon reaching at the venue at 8 p.m I was greeted with an Indian wedding welcome filled with rectangular and shaped flower petals of red, green and yellow colors with candles. It was a sight for the eyes and the crowd was already packing the ballroom. It’s nice to see that friends, colleagues and extended relatives were present to welcome the bride and bridegroom. I was sitting at table 32 with my friends and shortly after the lights went off and soft music echoed through the ballroom. The couple emerged from the darkness with cameras clicking away. Could resemble a WWE event (I will be there for the Singapore event!) but a newly wed couple’s entrance to the ballroom and that slow walk in the centre isle is as exciting as the walk-in of athletes of the infamous wrestling events! Waves of hands everywhere, claps and whistling! The night proceeded with comic introduction by the MC and games for the kids. But the moment came when the buffet was ready to be served, I had fried lady’s finger, chicken curry, sambal mutton, fried cracker (papaddam), achah (cucumber/carrots side dish), dhal curry and briyani (yellow fragrant)rice. Food, great crowd of which I bumped into two old time friends from my academy during my national service days ensured the night did go well but there are still other plans to meet up my old pal for a late night out.

Hitch a ride from my friend’s car and ended up at Tanjong Pagar for my best’s pal set@bianco (formerly known as Mox bar) and picked up my old pal at the nearby station. The last time I went to that cool place was ages ago, somewhere mid last year. That place hasn’t changed much but I guess it suitable for events i.e. launches/ underground parties and such. The event was a birthday and it was packed with a beautiful young crowd. Thanks to my bud Dj Eugene and his buddy, Leslie, had drinks on the house and boy its been awhile since I had bailey’s and gin tonic. Midway through the set we even went to grab supper @maxwell foodcourt. We called it a night around 3 a.m where he had to sent off Leslie who was bonked out; always blurting out funny phrases through the ride to his east coast apartment.

So I’m looking forward to the physiotherapy session on the coming Monday, hope it’ll turn out alright as it’s been awhile I’ve had a session with them. I’ll update you on my condition. I’m writing this as I’m watching ‘happy feet’, I guess it’s a good message in the movie about how animals and humans can both play an integral part to help save mother earth and maintain its co-habitat. Just imagine what if, just what if animals could talk? What they would share their thoughts on and if there’s a way such as using sonar technology to decipher what dolphins are saying, chimpanzees having the ability to translate their thoughts to action. I just want to see our future to be shared by both beings through modernization and moving to a connected world; we do have the means to ensure the safety of both worlds. It’s on our hands and lets do lend a ear to the coming 7/7/07 LIVE Concert (Global Warming initiative) where the whole world will stand against this ongoing phenomenon. Let’s make a stand before it’s too late. Support and act!
It’s equal to the love that you make…loveless (Happy Feet)

Bonchance (Good luck) my brothers and sisters!

My first entry..at 11.10 p.m

Hi to myself! What a way to usher in a blog in the period of middle year 2007. Ive always had a wishlist of having a blog. Updating, maintaining, uploading pictures, memories is indeed a challenge due to my schedule but hey ive made my 1st entry, and im sure glad it all work out...one phrase that's still stuck in my mind is "Small steps would indeed go a long way" guess it was confucious who said that or was it Jackie Chan? You know the sentence made sense to me when i initially heard it but as time goes by, as journeys began to unfold for me, i realise small steps and varying effort is needed to achieve even the place you want to head...

As of current (summer break) im working with a foreign bank and providing them assistance with check and balances for loans ranging from housing to education. My job circles around checks and updating of client information. Sound fun?! I guess its the journey of finding out something new, especially since the buzz is out in town that finance is the way or trade to be in. Few weeks ago before i left for thailand, i met up with a partner of mine and shared thoughts on the finance industry and how our graduates are banging in on the wagon. I wonder how long would it last since the shift of focus of the government is not primarily finance but in so many industries. I sometimes wonder why the switch to business studies, but i tend to remind myself time to time that its the right decision. Nevertheless i would have to share experiences with engineers from the japanese company i used to intern and even consultants who attended an Fire Safety Managers Course at the academy where i used to teach medical topics during my national service, they shared the same sentiments that engineers face problems day in day out and provide creative solutions. Still at the end of the day having been in the industry for over 20 odd years, they all agreed on one thing, one thing only which startled me initially which is to move to consultancy or running a business of their own. They wanted to be in control. One or two even regretted not having study business in their early years!

Having mingle with my school Prof's they even said youth nowadays should be able to absorb, adapt and manage new environments, especially now. I guess the thought of learning other trades for me as "fun" include maritime, law and ICT (Info-Communications Technology), mind you ive never been a goal getter before or dared dreamt myself to be in a prestigious university! But i guess it the journeys in my life that have change my perceptions and dreams began to evolve...but 1st i have to clear my degree modules first and like confucious said early..small steps
